What is Shiraz?
Shiraz is a type of red wine that is made in moderate or hot climate regions such as Southern France and Southern Australia. Syrah and Shiraz are the same thing – Old World countries tend to call it Syrah while New World countries call it Shiraz.
What does Shiraz taste like?
Shiraz from hotter climates such as the Barossa Valley in Oz has lots of blackberry fruit flavours with notes of liquorice and chocolate. Syrah from Europe still has black fruit flavours but tends to be earthier with notes of tobacco and leather.
