Chilean Wine
Chilean wine is often exceptionally good and affordable too. Most grape types grow well there too, especially the native French grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc.

Chilean Wine
Chilean wine has been made since the Spanish landed in Chile in the 16th century. When the French followed in the 19th century, they found that the native vines they brought with them flourished.
The primary wine growing regions lie along the Western coast of the country between the Pacific Ocean and the Andes. The climate between regions can vary enormously, with hot, dry weather dominating the north, getting cooler and wetter the further south you go.
The variations in climate mean that most wine grapes can be grown in Chile. The most popular made here are the French varieties, especially Carménère, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc.
