The Wine

Country of origin:

South Africa

Region:

Coastal Region

In the world of winemaking, Ubizo embodies the profound connection winemakers feel with the land, the vine and the artistry of crafting wines that capture the essence of their origin. This connection is beautifully showcased in the Coastal Region of South Africa, renowned for its diverse terroirs and prized vineyard sites. Ubizo reflects this heritage in this carefully cultivated Cape red. A luscious multi-varietal wine that combines red and black berry fruit with the signature complexity of the region.

The Winemaker

Pieter Carstens
Winemaker:

Pieter Carstens

South Africa's winemaking regions fan out from the beautiful city of Cape Town, dominated by Table Mountain. Often, a blanket of wispy-edged white cloud tumbles down, almost like a waterfall. This unusual phenomenon mirrors the rich diversity of climates that makes Cape wine so fascinatingly varied.

"In the winery we don't overwork the wine once it is in the vat, only taking wine from the bottom and putting it back over the cap of skins twice a day, at most, leaving the wine to gently extract colour, tannins and character from the skins. The result is a very well-balanced wine that is supple and juicy with a long, balanced finish." - Pieter Carstens, Winemaker.
