The Wine The Wine
Australia
Region:Victoria - Mornington Peninsula
When you think of Australia, most people think of sunny beaches, warm weather and a classic BBQ. However, nestled in Victoria is the small region of Mornington Peninsula, an up-and-coming region, that is making excellent cool-climate wines. Ten Minutes By Tractor is on a mission to highlight the quality and elegance of this cool climate region within its wines. With all vineyards 10 minutes apart by tractor, they work hard to capture the unique characteristics of each vineyard within their wines. This Pinot Noir is a fantastic example of this philosophy, oozing with sweet red fruits, juicy acidity and a silky palate.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Martin Spedding
Once the CEO of a tech company, Martin Spedding is now at the helm of an acclaimed Mornington Peninsula winery and is championing Australia's cool-climate wines. In his late 30s, Martin realised the corporate life was no longer for him, so he quit his job in Sydney to follow his passion for wine. He spent two years searching Australia and New Zealand for the right place to grow his favourite varieties, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, and ended up in Victoria's beautiful Mornington Peninsula. Here he produces elegant, award-winning wines from top-quality vineyards - all ten minutes apart by tractor. After a long hunt for the perfect place to make his dream wines, Martin eventually discovered three incredible vineyards on the Mornington Peninsula. They were run by three families who had come together to form Ten Minutes by Tractor in 1997 - so named because it took about that long to get from one vineyard to the other on a tractor.
"Selected from our Main Ridge vineyards 'up the hill', this wine speaks of the sub-region with lifted spice, hints of cinnamon, cardamom and crushed autumn leaves intertwine with a potpourri of strawberries, red fruit, rose petals & violets. A mouth-filling palate with beautiful balance and length." - Martin Spedding, Winemaker.
