The Wine The Wine
France
Region:Burgundy - Chassagne-Montrachet
Domaine de la Vougeraie is without doubt one of Burgundy’s leading domaines and produces a range of wines that all sing from the same hymn sheet. They are delicate and poised, yet the light touch approach to winemaking seems to yield wines in bottle that have both concentration and power. With peach and apricot notes, layers of citrus, white flowers, and hints of toasty oak on the nose, this wine is already complex and expressive. On the palate, notes of lemon curd, apple, and hazelnuts are complemented by a bright acidity and a long, mineral-driven finish.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Camille Leynaud-Prince
Winemaker Camille Leynaud-Prince has been at the estate since 2015. She started as an assistant to their head winemaker Pierre Vincent, before taking on full responsibility for oenology at the domaine. Camille is all about precision when it comes to the estate's wines and, prior to their creation, she works closely with Antoine Capospoto in the vineyards, focusing on the progress of the grapes and on the first samples taken in the summer as the grapes start to ripen and which are key to estimating the date of the harvest. When it comes to the frenetic fortnight of picking, all her attention is focused on vinification, where every detail counts to capture the estate's signature elegance and finesse.
"Lifted ripe citrus fruit mingles with sweet oak, which is kept at 20% new here, like almost all our white cuvées. The palate is bold and bright with plenty of fresh fruit and mineral texture before a gentle yet persistent spiced oak finish." - Camille Leynaud-Prince, Winemaker.
