The cellars of Rioja really can be as romantic as they sound. Barrel upon barrel of delicious wine, resting and waiting to be bottled to head off to another happy wine drinker. However, logistics cannot be ignored and harvest-time can provide some urgency to create space for the new wine coming in to begin its long and patient journey through the cellar. So, after tasting a selection of some truly excellent Reserva wines, we were ready to help create some space and bring our favourite - Casa de la Reina - to the UK, exclusively for Virgin Wines customers.

Emma's expertise is centred around two of the most prestigious regions of Spain - Rioja and Ribera del Duero. Her technical knowledge of the quality and characteristics of the grape varieties in these regions is second-to-none, so her wines always display a true expression of their origin.

The vanilla and sweet spice from the barrel ageing is soft and enticing and perfectly integrated with the subtle chocolate and strawberry notes of the Tempranillo.
