At 420 meters above sea level, perched above the stunning Elgin Valley, Andrew Gunn established Iona to harness the unique advantages of this cool-climate site. With sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean, he and his team cultivate some of the most prized cool-climate vineyards in South Africa. Thanks to the area's long growing season, Iona's wines develop intricate layers of flavour, resulting in a fresh, refined elegance. Bright, crisp aromas of citrus, green apple, and hints of fresh herbs, complemented by a clean minerality. On the palate, vibrant notes of lime, passion fruit, and grapefruit are framed by a lively acidity, all leading to a long, structured finish.

Iona is a top-class South African estate based in the Elgin Highlands, a cool climate location particularly well-suited for high-quality viticulture. Founded by Andrew Gunn in 1997, Iona has gained a much-appreciated reputation for producing refined, elegant wines, particularly Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir. Winemaking today is taken care of by Werner Muller, and he continues to progress and improve their bottlings with focus true to the original philosophy of producing elegant, terroir-driven wines that showcase the cool-climate characteristics of the Elgin Valley.
