The Wine The Wine
Spain
Region:Jerez
Lustau's Almacenista range is a collection of bottlings from small-batch sherry producers from around the region. Wines are selected on merit with uniqueness, purity of expression and balance all to the fore. This Amontillado displays unfathomable complexity led by toasted nuts and citrus peel. The salty kick, which is a trademark of wines produced in the Sanlúcar region, gives balance and drinkability to this otherwise powerful, food-friendly, aged sherry.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Sergio Martinez
Sergio has lost count of his accolades after a string of internationally recognised 'best winemaker' awards in recent years. It's that kind of level that Bodegas Lustau insists upon. He is without doubt a star of the fortified wine world and he has some of the best raw material to play with at Lustau.
"This Amontillado solera consists of 21 casks which are aged in Manuel Cuevas Jurado’s bodegas in “Calle Trabajadero” (Trabajadero St.) in Sanlúcar de Barrameda. Old gold in colour, this wine has a pungent and aromatic bouquet, reminiscent of the sea breeze from the Andalusian coastline. This is a classic Amontillado from Sanlúcar. Hazelnuts come forward on the palate, with a light and attractive acidity. This wine is appreciated for its fineness and elegance and has a long, dry finish." - Sergio Martinez, Winemaker.
