Cline Cellars Ancient Vines Zinfandel 2021
£21.99
- Cline Cellars is a family-owned vineyard and winery in Sonoma’s Carneros Valley.
- This Zinfandel shows spicy, bright blackberry, coffee and chocolate characters. Ripe fruit and soft tannins make this a mouth-coating vintage.
- Ten months ageing with new and old oak has lent this wine a strong vanilla and coconut quality that nicely complements the rich, forward, old-vine fruit.
- Cline is proud to be a Certified California Sustainable vineyard and winery. They have adopted solar power, compost all organic waste to put back into the soil and use sheep to keep weeds at bay.

The Wine The Wine
USA
Region:California
Cline Cellars was established in 1982 by Fred Cline, a descendant of Italian US settlers. He originally founded the winery in Oakley, Contra Costa County, cultivating Rhône varieties and Zinfandel on vines dating back to 1906. In the 1990s, the family moved their winemaking operation to a 350-acre ranch in Carneros Valley, adopting sustainable farming in 2000 and building the largest solar-panelled winery in California. Their Ancient Vines Zinfandel comes from a wide selection of Cline's oldest, most historic and lowest-yielding Zinfandel blocks in Contra Costa County. These 100-year-old, dry-farmed vineyards consistently produce fruit of stunning concentration. Partner with rich beef stews and creamy poultry dishes.

Tom Gendall

"If you look after the vines, the vines will look after you and produce great fruit. They will tell you what they need if you know where to look and what to look for. It's our job to interpret that information and make sure the wines achieve their very best potential." - Tom Gendall, Winemaker.
