The Wine The Wine
Australia
Region:McLaren Vale
This wine is from a very old Shiraz vineyard situated on the foothills of Willunga, facing the sea. The warm days and cool nighttime sea breeze concentrate the flavours, resulting in a complex, structured wine. Expect a dark, brooding and dense nose with plum and dark cherry, complemented by spice, liquorice and cedar. The palate is incredibly tight with soft, powdery tannins, giving balance and finesse to the structure.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Andréa Maxwell
Andréa grew up in South Africa and completed her degree in Viticulture & Oenology at the University of Stellenbosch. Her love for wine developed early, starting a wine course while still in school. After two vintages in South Africa, she moved to Australia and has been ingrained in the industry since. In her spare time, she enjoys walking with her partner and their gorgeous English Cocker Spaniel, Darcy, through their own Shiraz vineyard in the heart of McLaren Vale.
“If you talk about wine, it doesn’t matter what language you speak. It will intrinsically connect you to people.”
"This site is uniquely positioned near the sea, benefiting from cooling breezes that allow the vines to rest and cool. Balance is key here and while this wine is rich and densely concentrated, its structure remains remarkably soft." - Andrea Maxwell, Winemaker.
