The Wine The Wine
France
Region:Burgundy - Pouilly-Fuissé
Damien is a superb winemaker and this new bottling is utterly compelling. This is our first addition to the range from the new 1er Cru designation within France’s Pouilly-Fuissé region, granted in 2020 after a 10-year process to identify the region's very best sites. Crafted from 3 tiny plots of vines in the heart of the region, followed by vinification and maturation for 9 months in French oak barrels. A rich and rounded wine which has exceptional balance, drinking beautifully now and over the next 4-5 years.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Damien Martin
Damien Martin works hard alongside his father, Robert, on their family run domaine to craft excellent wines which are deeply rooted in the traditions of the Mâconnais, with a love and respect for the vines under their care. It is no surprise to see him being awarded the 2019 title of Young Burgundian Winemaker of the Year for the Mâconnais.
"It was great to finally be able to make a 1er Cru wine from our beloved Pouilly-Fuissé region and I’m really pleased with how the wine is showing. A true expression of the area with orchard fruit, buttery notes, and that streak of minerality that is the hallmark of the very best bottlings." - Damien Martin, Winemaker.
