Region:Alsace
Gewurztraminer is a spicy variety and is well worth experiencing if you haven't already been converted. It is undoubtedly the most powerfully scented white grape, so you can expect a bit of an aroma workout. The characteristics are exotic and unique with notes of rose petal and lychee. A fuller style of white wine on the palate, but one that still has bags of freshness, keeping things from becoming too intense and overwhelming. Serve nice and chilled for full enjoyment.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Daniel Gerold
Originating from Alsace, Daniel Gerold was introduced to wine by his father, which eventually inspired him to follow a path towards a career in the industry. After his winemaking studies, Daniel travelled across Burgundy, Champagne and New Zealand, gaining a wide-ranging knowledge of grape varieties, terroirs and techniques. In 2020, he headed back to the Alsace and started to work at Cave de Turckheim.
"The famous sandy and gravely terroirs between Turckheim and Wintzenheim to the south is a dry alluvial land. It produces grapes that possess the most wonderfully expressive aromas and intensity of flavours. Light yellow in colour with a spicy perfumed nose. It is rounded, supple and spicy, with hints of apricots and a sweet crisp finish." - Daniel Gerold, Winemaker.
