The Wine The Wine
South Africa
Region:Coastal Region
Trying to capture a sense of purpose through a wine name is a tricky one, but when we started this project with winemaker Nadia Englebrecht, we knew that we wanted to focus on what’s important when crafting wines with character and substance. We settled on Amava Vines; ‘amava’ translates to ‘roots’ and links to heritage, tradition and staying connected to one's origins. This multi-varietal white pulls on the individual characters of the varieties to create a joyful, fruit-filled and complete wine that has a focused finish with just a little lingering spice.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Nadia Engelbrecht
Having cut her teeth in a host of top winemaking jobs, Nadia is now one of the top winemakers in the esteemed Perdeberg Group, where she gets to weave her magic over the Coastal Region's enviable array of top-notch, dry-farmed fruit.
"It took a little time in the blending room to get this one right, the odd percentage either way of each varietal making a big difference. We think we found the sweet spot and this lovely, expressive white is a mix of tropical fruit and spicy freshness." - Nadia Engelbrecht, Winemaker.
