The Wine The Wine
Italy
Region:Piedmont
Now somewhat in the shadow of Barolo and Barbaresco further south, but once the home of the best-rated Nebbiolo in Italy, Alto Piemonte is coming back. Where the vineyards of the more prestigious regions further south have become almost prohibitively expensive, Alto Piemonte still offers great value with the soil and climate to produce very pure Nebbiolo. It's also attracting some real winemaking talent and the Noah wines demonstrate this where it counts - in the glass.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Andrea Mosca
Andrea, alongside consultant oenologist Maurizio Forgia, is responsible for realising Noah's vision that "wine is the harmonious meeting of man and nature". So, the health of the fruit and its expression of its vineyard is key, with careful winemaking to preserve maximum purity.
"All the grapes are hand-harvested. 30 days maceration on the skins. The wine is fermented using indigenous yeasts in oak. 20 months aging in large Slavonian oak barrels. 1 year in bottle before release. You can serve this wine during the whole meal with strong flavoured first courses like fresh egg-made pasta with sauce, red meat, game and cheese." - Andrea Mosca, Winemaker.
