The Wine The Wine
South Africa
Region:Swartland
From a special block on the Oak Valley vineyard, situated on the gentle western slopes of Kasteelberg, this Cinsault sings with character. We selected only three rows from Oak Valley, located in the most exposed part of the vineyard, enhancing the natural sweetness inherent in great Cinsault (which is rare!). Beginning with a delicate nose of red fruits intertwined with tea and herbal notes, the wine leads to remarkably sweet fruit flavours on the palate. This wine stands out as exceptionally moreish, a testament to our craft.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Sheree Nothnagel
"I can remember as a kid of about 10 years old, trying to prune the one grape vine that grew in my grandparent's back yard. Ten years later vines became an intricate part of my life." After graduating from Elsenburg Agricultural College in Stellenbosch, Sheree spent the next three years as a flying winemaker, chasing vintages abroad. She worked in the USA, Australia, France and New Zealand. In 2019 she joined Riebeek Valley Wine Company to run the boutique cellar and custom crushing facility. Here, every day is a unique opportunity to work with a wide variety of cultivars and winemaking techniques and to challenge the norm. "It gives me great pleasure to see people enjoying our wine."
"I'm used to crafting some delightful blends in my small cellar, but this one truly amazed me. After making it with Andrew, we sat down and enjoyed it together. It's an incredibly enticing wine. We both adore it! It has become our go-to choice, it's quite remarkable." - Sheree Nothnagel, Winemaker.
