The Wine

Country of origin:

Italy

Region:

Piedmont

This is a wine style that's nicely suited to Sarotto's modern approach to winemaking. Often rustic and somewhat challenging in its style, Barbaresco can split opinion, but Roberto Sarotto makes wines with exceptionally clean and precise aromatics, flavours and structure that combine to produce a wine that's approachable in its youth but with all the necessary characteristics to develop over years to come.

The Winemaker

Roberto Sarotto
Winemaker:

Roberto Sarotto

Sarotto has been a family-owned winery since way back in the 1700s. Having passed through numerous generations and been specialists in various export markets, it's Roberto Sarotto now that runs the estate and has fine-tuned its production to modern, precise and expressive wines with regional and varietal identity.

"This Barbaresco is a complex wine, whose nose has a distinctive hint of roses and violets. With its deep ruby red colour, it has a refined and smooth taste and has a slight aroma of ripe plum, liquorice, spices and chocolate. Soft tannins give a particular sensation of sweetness and a long velvet finish. Excellent for serving with red meat courses and cheeses, but also as a sipping wine." - Roberto Sarotto, Winemaker.
