The Wine

Country of origin:

Argentina

Region:

Mendoza

When walking through the vineyards of Familia Zuccardi you may stumble across a field or row of vines labelled with a simple 'Q'. Marked to symbolise the best and oldest plots of grapes, these vines are made into wines only to be placed under this prestigious label. This latest Q wine is from their best plot of old vine Tempranillo in Santa Rosa. By picking by hand, the winemaker Sebastian has managed to pick only the best and ripest grapes. This leads to a wine abundant with attractive aromas of ripe red fruits and spices supported by round and well-integrated tannins. Uncork now or cellar for 10 years or more.

The Winemaker

Sebastian Zuccardi
Winemaker:

Sebastián Zuccardi

Sebastián Zuccardi, a third-generation winemaker, is recognised globally as one of Argentina's top producers. A graduate in Agricultural Engineering from the National University of Cuyo, Sebastián refined his winemaking philosophy through experiences in wine regions across the United States, France, Spain, Italy, and Portugal. His approach centres on achieving identity through terroir and, as his understanding of the vineyards deepened, he realised that excessive oak was masking the grapes' natural character. Today, he prioritises the fruit's freshness and purity, continuing the legacy of his grandfather, Alberto 'Tito' Zuccardi, and father, José Zuccardi.

"I am now the third generation of my family to harvest these Tempranillo vines. Grown in our vineyard in Santa Rita, we have marked these vines with a 'Q' due to their depth of concentration and quality. This results in juicy red fruits on the palate complemented by spice and rounded integrated tannins." - Sebastian Zuccardi, Winemaker.
