L'Impression Rouge Vin De France 2022

- An 'open at the drop of a hat' red wine that can be enjoyed with or without food, only good company or a page-turner of a book is essential.
- There's a lovely richness to the core of this wine that is dark-fruit themed and dotted with the intrigue of sweet spice.
- We blended this cuvée with winemaker Guillaume Létang on a pre-harvest visit earlier this year, good timing as he wanted to clear some space!

The Wine The Wine
France
Region:Vin De France
The catch-all Vin De France appellation can be much more than its somewhat lowly status might suggest! It is a truly exciting new wave of winemaking thinking and the wines labelled as Vin de France often have small parcels of wines that are from very lofty regions that we blend with great value base wines to delivery true value for money and of course bash the rule book about the head a little. This delicious Grenache led red has a lovely parcel of Syrah included in the blend and a very special splash of seriously rich and ripe Carignan that really sets this wine above its VDF status!
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Guillaume Letang
Winemaker Guillaume Létang could be said to have wine in his blood coming, as he does, from the north of Burgundy, near Chablis. After studying at Dijon University he started his career in 1998 in the Burgundy region, primarily in Maconnais and Beaujolais. With 8 years experience as a Cellar Master and 5 as Consultant Winemaker his knowledge and experience is in ever increasing demand.
"I've been working with a selection of growers here in the South of France for a number of vintages and with each year we look to improve the quality of the grapes we harvest and, although the 2021 season had its challenges, I'm thrilled with the way this cuvée turned out. Layered with red and black fruit character and just enough spice to let you know which part of France is in your glass." - Guillaume Létang, Winemaker.
