Named after the 150-year-old 'cross barn' located on the Hobbs family farm in upstate New York, Crossbarn honours the values of hard work and integrity instilled in Paul from his childhood. There is a commitment to sustainably nurturing the vineyards while using labour-intensive winemaking techniques, and his attention to detail really pays off! This Chardonnay has heady aromatics of nougat, lemon zest, butter, fresh green apples and white peach. These carry through into the palate where subtle, nutty oak and mineral highlights linger long into the finish. This is not your average Californian Chardonnay.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Paul Hobbs
Paul Hobbs grew up on a working farm in upstate New York. His father would test him by taste on which apples came from which orchard. This enlightened Paul to the diversity of flavours and textures available from different sites, which would later influence his approach to winemaking. Paul has honed this skill that he acquired as a child and is now famous for having the ability to identify exceptional vineyards. He founded Paul Hobbs Winery in 1991 and he now shares his time with Vina Cobos in Argentina.
"Clear with pale lemon hues, the wine bursts with aromas of fresh pear, citrus and wet stone. Lifted notes of white peach, green apple and white flower mingle with crisp acidity and chalky texture, leading to a long and juicy finish, capturing its Sonoma Coast origins." - Paul Hobbs, Winemaker.
