Sadly, some wineries started bottling one-dimensional juice to meet demand, but Kahaka is from a winemaker with a superb pedigree and is a true expression of this premium nectar. It is fresh and lively with complex layers of flavours ranging from lime and cut grass, to elderflower and wet stone, all the way through to mango and passionfruit. This is a perfect example of what Marlborough is really about.

Steve Bird
Steve's journey in winemaking started in 1978, with an after-school job at the sole local winery which quickly fired his passion and paved the way to his career in winemaking. After studying in Australia and completing an internationally recognised degree in wine science, he returned to his homeland where he joined New Zealand's burgeoning wine industry. It was in 2005 that he set out on his own, and he has since celebrated many proud achievements, winning numerous gold awards both locally and abroad for his signature wines that capture the exceptional qualities of the land.
"The nose is clean with lifted florals of elderflower, tropical notes of green mango, and lime melded with some herbaceous nuances of fresh-cut grass. The palate is fresh with a lovely concentration of citrus and green mango, fragrant florals, and fresh herbs. The wine is succulent with a subtle wet stone mineral texture.
