Region:Bordeaux - Lalande-de-Pomerol
Located on a hillside facing the most prominent terroirs of Pomerol, the Château Tournebrise vineyard is located on clay-gravel soils and produces one of the best wines of the Lalande de Pomerol. On top of this natural advantage, the wine is crafted by a much admired winemaker whose other successes include top notch Bordeaux wines: Château Tournefeuille Lalande-De-Pomerol (this wine's big brother), Château Lécuyer Pomerol and Château La Révérence Saint Emilion Grand Cru. Château Tournebrise is made using sustainable agriculture, manual harvesting and is aged 12 months before release (50% in stainless steel vats, and 50% in 2 and 3 year old barrels for a more refined and elegant oak flavour). So, if you like a mouth-coating Bordeaux with nuances of red cherry, ripe plum, blackcurrant and menthol, with baking spices and gently charred oak this wine will not disappoint!
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Emeric Petit
Château Tournefeuille was established in 1998 by his father (François) - although winemaking has long been a passion of the Petit family, dating back to ancestors in 1735. With Emeric now at the helm, he brings a new vision to the Château. He is in the process of converting the vineyards to biodynamic agriculture, but is also keen to stay true to his winemaking roots, experience and values. He sums up his approach as "Tournefeuille wine is the fruit of patience and equilibrium".
"Ripe Merlot grapes offer a beautiful elegance to this wine. It is racy. Nice length, good balance and lots of harmony." - Emeric Petit, Winemaker.
