The Wine

Country of origin:

France

Region:

Loire - Muscadet

This wine is from a single vineyard bang in the heart of Muscadet in the north west of the Loire Valley. It is a standout wine for our Wine Buyer, Andrew Baker, who believes this can go toe to toe and hold its own against some seriously good producers from the better known regions of Sancerre and Chablis. With a rare purity of fruit, coupled with a tense mineral character this little old Muscadet deserves to be tasted by lovers of white wines from Picpoul in Provence to Marlborough in New Zealand.

The Winemaker

Sebastien Branger
Winemaker:

Sebastien Branger

Domaine la Haut Fevrie is one of the leading producers in Muscadet Sever et Maine. Working both organically and bio dynamically they look to produce wines that are pure to their origins and absorb the soil which gives them life. Working vineyards in prized areas, in a region where exposure to the sun is critical, they craft some of the best value wines on the planet.

"I look to bottle up a pure expression of the marriage between vine, soil and the elements of geography and weather I have to work with. The region of Muscadet has its challenges but that only inspires me to make the very best wines I can, in a natural and environmentally friendly way." - Sebastien Branger, Winemaker.

OK Muscadet.I really enjoy unfashionable Muscadet, and nothing wrong with this one, but slightly flat flavour and character.
