The Wine The Wine
France
Region:Provence - Côtes de Provence
Nestled in a coastal bay in Cape Bénat, a protected site of natural beauty and stone's throw from St Tropez, lies the Léoube estate. Winemaker Romain Ott is truly passionate about this terroir and the wines which herald from these vines. Love by Léoube is made from Cinsault, the original grape of Provence rosés, which brings sweet and tender aromas of peach, melon and strawberry, and Grenache offers up more intense red fruit notes. Mourvèdre then completes this explosion of flavour with velvety notes of violet, wild flowers and blackberry.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Romain Ott
As a 4th generation winegrower and winemaker, Romain Ott's vision has always been to produce the very best wines from what the land can give, with great affection and care. At Château Léoube it all begins with the soil. Provence is home to some of the oldest vineyards in France, and the soil dates back over 800 million years. To maintain the heritage of the land he believes in time honoured, artisan farming - free from chemicals and pesticides and following organic and biodynamic principles. He believes that if you respect the balance of the plant, you will get the most balanced fruit in return. His grapes are all harvested and sorted by hand, in tune with the seasonal and lunar cycles. Then the traditional winemaking process begins in his cellar. The outcome is wines that are vibrant, well balanced, fresh and full of character, while remaining true to their terroir. Above all, they symbolise his constant attention and profound devotion to the land.
"This is a pale rosé with vibrant characteristics. The nose is a mixture of red fruits and citrus fruits. On the palate, I find aromas of white peaches as well as red berries. I often enjoy this wine with octopus salad, monkfish tail, Provencal prawns or chicken skewers smothered in thyme and lemon." - Romain Ott, Winemaker.
