The Wine

Country of origin:

Italy

Region:

Piemonte - Barolo

Amabile Droco, owner of Cascina Adelaide, has always been fascinated by Barolo and the different terriors that lie within this prestigious region. This started his mission to acquire a vineyard in each of the eleven Barolo 'crus', and he currently owns eight. This wine comes from the Preda vineyard, right next to the winery where the vines look over the winery itself. This was an outstanding vintage, and the wine amazes with its intensity. Flavours of plum jam and mulberry develop menthol and balsamic undertones. The structure is huge in the mouth, full bodied with liquorice and ripened fruit aromas that are really clear in the glass. This is a wine to savour.

Customer ratings

Had this on Christmas day it's very, very lovely. Not cheap but we all deserve a treat from time to time. It's possibly the wine where the nose and taste are closest to my senses very smooth and long lasting taste, balanced, and complex. Go treat yourself, just don't tell your bank manager!

Bloody tasteless. The most expensive bottle of wine I have ever bought and cannot tell you how much I regret doing so. The Dragon Hill Pinit Noir is a much better bet at a 5th of the price. Or go to a supermarket and by a £20 bottle of Barolo from there. Do not waste your money on this one.
