Shiraz Pinot Noir is not as crazy and avant-garde as you may think, having been the trademark blend of many a great Australian red of the past. In fact, Steve Grimley says "if you could swab some of the famed Hunter Burgundies of the times before label integrity, you'd find that not much has really changed." Albeit in this instance he is being up front on the Black Flag bottle. And although Pinot Noir only makes up 3% of this blend it is bizarre how much it has a hold over the Shiraz. We think this is a truly engaging bottle of Aussie red.

Steve Grimley
"The palate has a tension to it which I love in the glass, more Pinot-esque star anise types providing the warm before the back palate races off in a sherbety, candied way which, once you get used to, is not dissimilar to the lollie itself, hard to lay off. My sort of drink." Steve Grimley, Winemaker.
