The Wine The Wine
France
Region:Burgundy - Beaujolais
This wine is produced on land which has been passed down from father to son since the 18th Century. However it has only been dedicated to wine production since 1966 when André Fontaine took the reins, followed later by his son - current winemaker Vincent. In keeping with Beaujolais tradition, Vincent uses semi-carbonic maceration and the wine is aged in a combination of stainless steel and concrete (which Vincent regards as the ideal vessel for Gamay). This results in a wine with ripe, soft red berry fruit and violets, with a more profound palate accompanied by supple tannins and a mineral character which speaks to the vineyard's shallow, granitic soils.
