The Wine The Wine
Italy
Region:Piedmont - Barolo
Amabile Droco, owner of Cascina Adelaide, has always been fascinated by Barolo and the different terriors that lie within this prestigious region. This started his mission to acquire a vineyard in each of the eleven Barolo 'crus', and he currently owns eight. This wine comes from "Fossati" in La Morra on a south, south-east facing slope at an altitude of 400 metres. The high concentration of limestone in the La Morra soils is why it is considered to produce the most perfumed and graceful wines in Barolo. In this red you'll find scents of orange peel, plum and tobacco with incredibly vibrant tannins and excellent balancing acidity.
The Winemaker The Winemaker

Sergio Molino
Cascina Adelaide is blessed with a number of vineyard sites in the most prized and valuable spots of the Barolo region and its surroundings. And with considered cultivation of the vines and precise winemaking, they have a resulting portfolio that they can be very proud of.
"The land provides the difference, the wine provides the medium. To enhance this communication of intrinsic individuality from each site no herbicides are used on the land and the harvesting and sorting is all done by hand. Our attention to detail is exacting. Native yeasts and minimal sulphur are used in the fermentation too, allowing the resulting wine to speak for itself, creating a delicious and complex wine." - Sergio Molino, Winemaker.
