When it comes to growing grapes, location is everything. The difference between something so-so and spectacular can often be measured in meters. Each piece of land is different, each yields its own very special influence on the sensitive vines. These grapes come from the picturesque Tulum Valley in San Juan. Sitting at 31°S of the equator, most regions at this latitude are arid desert and too hot for vines to flourish - but at a cool 650m above sea level, and with the San Juan River carving its way through to the ocean, this is a little oasis for vines.
