The Wine The Wine
Argentina
Region:Mendoza - Uco Valley
Zuccardi have an innovative approach and are at the forefront of taking the quality of Argentinean wines to new heights. Carefully selected Malbec parcels from vineyards in the high altitude Uco Valley are naturally fermented before spending time in French oak and then a further 6 months in bottle before release. A belter of a wine where blackberries, blueberries, tobacco and chocolate all jostle for position but never overpower each other and sprint for the finish line. Seriously good and very impressive, this is one of the most full-bodied of all of our vegan wines.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Sebastián Zuccardi
Sebastián Zuccardi, a third-generation winemaker, is recognised globally as one of Argentina's top producers. A graduate in Agricultural Engineering from the National University of Cuyo, Sebastián refined his winemaking philosophy through experiences in wine regions across the United States, France, Spain, Italy, and Portugal. His approach centres on achieving identity through terroir and, as his understanding of the vineyards deepened, he realised that excessive oak was masking the grapes' natural character. Today, he prioritises the fruit's freshness and purity, continuing the legacy of his grandfather, Alberto 'Tito' Zuccardi, and father, José Zuccardi.
"Harvest took place over the first two weeks of April all done by hand to ensure everything is picked at exactly the right time and quality levels are optimised. Gathered from both our vineyards in Altamira and Vista Flores they provide contrast in the wine but also make a great team. Intense red fruits, a little flowery with herbal notes. Soft and silky on the palate with great structure, freshness and mineral texture. The finish is long and moreish." - Sebastian Zuccardi, Winemaker.
