The Wine The Wine
Germany
Region:Pfalz
Legendary German winemaker, Ernst Loosen, is a very safe pair of hands in the world of German wine. He's built a portfolio of world-beating wines over the decades so when you see his name on a bottle, it's always worth dipping in. Gewürztraminer is a variety that can split opinion with its full-on aromas, flavour and high alcohol. But under Ernst's direction, winemaker Bernard Schug has managed to pull that right back here to make a very approachable wine at a lower alcohol level without losing an inch of varietal character.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Bernhard Schug
Bernhard started making wine with his friend Ernst Loosen in the late 1980s. He is passionate about his winemaking as well as his own personal garden at home. His years of experience have taken him through all types of vintages in Germany, and drawing on this experience he can help direct the work in the vineyard or the method of fermentation and/or aging to create consistently great wines that are showpieces for the varietals they represent.
"The exotic fruit aromas of the Villa Wolf Gewürztraminer are unique. Beginners as well as experts can appreciate this wine in its complexity and depth. Combined with spicy dishes this wine is absolutely the right choice, as it has this nice balance of strong aromatics, fruitiness and acidity." - Bernhard Schug, Winemaker.
