The Wine

Country of origin:

New Zealand

Region:

Marlborough

Beth Forrest has perfected the art of creating a delicious, full flavoured Pinot Noir with a naturally lower level of alcohol. And it's all done sustainably, in the vineyard! By slowing the vine's ability to make sugar (but not its ability to make flavour) she ends up with less than 10% abv in the final wine. It then spends 8 months in premium French oak barriques, just like any other quality Marlborough Pinot Noir. The emphasis is on delivering the mouthfeel and texture that standard alcohol levels would deliver, while keeping alcohol levels in single digits.

The Winemaker

Beth Forrest
Winemaker:

Beth Forrest

The team at Forrest have been working tirelessly to make lower ABV wines by following more traditional processes in the vineyards and winery, not looking to technology to do the work for them. The biggest problem was getting the balance between the sugar and acid right, especially the sugar. Through meticulous vineyard work and strict temperature control through fermentations they've achieved what they set out to do - make naturally lower ABV wines that are wonderfully balanced and deliver top-notch drinking.

"After 10 years of trials, tribulations, setbacks and breakthroughs we believe we have perfected the technique of making lower alcohol wines without compromising on flavour or mouthfeel. This Pinot is perfect for serious wine drinkers who want to be a little more health conscious. And if you're enjoying this with lunch it's perfect with roasted kiwi lamb!" - Beth Forrest, Winemaker.

Only Kiwi Pinot I have not liked . The low alc at 9.5% may be the issue. I found it weak, watery , with no depth. Sorry ill not buy again.

Terrible wine - low %avg flows through into blackcurrant juice Worst wine I've ordered through virgin wines

Nice and light and smooth..
