  • An excellent Beaujolais from winemaker Jean-Marc Burgaud - claimed by many to be the best producer in Morgon.
  • Terrific concentration of flavours which envelop the fine-grained tannins. The overall impression is of intensity and elegance.
  • As it's still a little young we'd recommend decanting - it'll allow the aromas and flavours to develop and the tannins to soften.
  • ABV: 13.0%
  • Vintage: 2018

The Wine

Country of origin:

France

Region:

Burgundy - Beaujolais

The Côte du Py is considered to produce the finest wines in Morgon thanks to its ex-volcanic schist soils. Jean-Marc's vines grow on a plateau on top of a hill in this prestigious terrior, producing a wine which combines controlled power with mineral elegance. This density of flavour, mouth-watering acidity and firm yet fine-grained tannins are all the hallmarks of a great Morgon. It's no wonder that he is considered to be the best winemaker in Morgon when he is turning out wines like this!

The Winemaker

Jean-Marc Burgaud
Winemaker:

Jean-Marc Burgaud

Jean-Marc comes from a family of winemakers, and he set up his own estate with his wife Christine in 1989 after he completed a diploma in oenology. They own 19 hectares of vineyards in several appellations, comprising 13 hectares in Morgon where his estate is based, 1 hectare in Régnié, plus 5 hectares in the Beaujolas-Villages area. Jean-Marc believes that this is the maximum area he can cultivate while still producing the quality he is after. Although not certified, he farms organically and all the work in the vineyard is done by hand.
