Paul Hobbs learned his trade on his family's apple farm as a kid. He learned to identify which apples were grown on which parts of the orchard purely by taste. This laid an early foundation that gave Paul an innate understanding of the soil and environment's influence on the fruit. Since his childhood he's moved over to grapes and has used his expert instinct to make countless award-winning wines that sit confidently at the top of the hierarchy of the New World's best.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Paul Hobbs
Paul Hobbs grew up on a working farm in upstate New York. His father would test him by taste on which apples came from which orchard. This enlightened Paul to the diversity of flavours and textures available from different sites, which would later influence his approach to winemaking. Paul has honed this skill that he acquired as a child and is now famous for having the ability to identify exceptional vineyards. He founded Paul Hobbs Winery in 1991 and he now shares his time with Vina Cobos in Argentina.
"The richness of this wine with its ripe black cherry and blackcurrant with good acidity makes this a perfect match for a sweet and fatty slow-cooked lamb joint." - Paul Hobbs, Winemaker.
