How do the people at Laurent-Perrier do it? All those tiny bubbles trapped in a redcurrant and apple-flavoured alcoholic concoction so delicious, creamy and light, it's a wonder they want to escape. Escape they do, though, making for one of the most decadent fizz experiences you'll ever have.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Michel Fauconnet
Founded over 200 years ago in 1812, Laurent-Perrier is one of the most distinguished family-owned Champagne Houses. Based in the heart of the Champagne region in Tours-sur-Marne, Laurent-Perrier has a pedigree for innovation, handcrafting elegant Champagnes using traditional, time-honoured methods. The house was acquired by the Nonancourt family in 1949 and, for 50 years, Bernard de Nonancourt dedicated his life to innovating and perfecting Laurent-Perrier champagne. Today, with Bernard’s daughters Alexandra and Stéphanie on the Management Board, the House of Laurent-Perrier is one of the great success stories in Champagne and is the largest independent Champagne brand worldwide.
Michel Fauconnet joined Laurent-Perrier in 1973 and, since 2004, he has been the house's 3rd Cellar Master. He has spent his whole career at Laurent-Perrier, from humble beginnings as a cellar worker, before rising to become a supervisor, then head of the cellar. He is responsible for the wines, from vinification to bottling, and has exceptionally high standards.
"This Champagne is famous for a highly expressive bouquet that stems from the very careful preservation of the grape's naturally fresh red fruit aromas. A rare Rosé Champagne made using the maceration (skin contact) technique, perfectly controlled by the winery, to give that extraordinary depth and freshness - a worldwide benchmark for its style. Revel in the beauty of its 16th century-style bottle, serve at 8-10°C as an exquisite aperitif and pair with charcuterie, poultry or red fruit desserts." - Michel Fauconnet, Winemaker.
