We had a bit of a Ronseal moment with this wine. There we were blending up some lovely Carignan in Curico, in Chile, when the dinner gong sounded. We were greeted with a fabulous flatiron steak. And the combination was ridiculously good. This slightly ordinary grape from the south of France makes something very exciting in Chile. Beautifully formed fruit has great intensity and brings out the juice of the meat so well. A field discovery, if you like. A good one.
