The Wine The Wine
Argentina
Region:Mendoza - Uco Valley
This super premium Malbec is from the Uco Valley, from hand-harvested fruit grown on Vina Cobos vineyards planted at over 3,300 feet above sea level! Here grapes attain phenomenal levels of flavour concentration, captured in the finished wine thanks largely to legendary American winemaker - Paul Hobbs. He's a bit of a genius in the winery. An incredibly dense wine, packed with red fruit intensity, toasted oak and a lovely caramel finish. You MUST decant this wine and serve with your favourite cut of steak.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Paul Hobbs
Paul Hobbs grew up on a working farm in upstate New York. His father would test him by taste on which apples came from which orchard. This enlightened Paul to the diversity of flavours and textures available from different sites, which would later influence his approach to winemaking. Paul has honed this skill that he acquired as a child and is now famous for having the ability to identify exceptional vineyards. He founded Paul Hobbs Winery in 1991 and he now shares his time with Vina Cobos in Argentina.
"Red fruit, cassis and smoke on the nose. Luscious plum, blackberry and mocha on the palate with hints of oak and leather. The high altitude of the vineyard site ensures fresh and ample acidity to make this a great partner for food, especially meat. It is smooth and complex with elegant tannins." - Paul Hobbs, Winemaker.
