The Wine The Wine
France
Region:Languedoc
Packed full of juicy fruit and needs to be enjoyed al fresco, where possible. It has the freshness and vibrancy to go beautifully with shellfish, while lees ageing adds a touch of creamy complexity that would see it as a good aperitif too. No flashy label, just great wine.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Isabelle Pangault
A native of the Loire Valley, Isabelle Pangault is the Head Winemaker at Les Vignobles Foncalieu, a co-operative of 1200 winegrowers that spans several regions of Southern France: Languedoc-Roussillon, Provence, Gascony, and the Rhône Valley. After studying at the Paris and Montpellier Universities of Agronomy, she went on to explore wine production in different regions and internationally, including the prestigious Grands Crus classifications of Bordeaux with Baron Philippe de Rothschild.
"A great example of caring about the wine, not the label. It is not Sancerre or Kiwi Sauvignon. It is Languedoc Sauvignon. And that label carries no cost implication, so it's a bit of a bargain." Andrew Baker, Wine Buyer.
