The Wine The Wine

Region:Champagne
In 1668, Dom Pierre Pérignon declared his intention to "make the best wine in the world." For 47 years, in the Abbey of Hautvillers, he broke all the rules and constraints and pushed the art of creation to a level of perfection never reached before in Champagne. Three centuries later, Dom Pérignon still perpetuates that creative ambition with every vintage that they launch. Their aim is to bear witness to each year, whatever the challenges may be, and choose the very best grapes from any of the 17 Grands Crus, and the legendary Premier Cru of Hautvillers.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Vincent Chaperon
In 2005 Vincent Chaperon joined Dom Pérignon. His meeting with Richard Geoffroy, who was the Chef de Cave (Cellar Master) at this time, proved to be pivotal and marked the beginning of a thirteen-year apprenticeship. The passing of the baton took place on January 1st 2019 when Vincent Chaperon became Chef de Cave of Dom Pérignon. He sees Dom Pérignon’s vision - harmony as a source of emotion - as a true raison d'être. Drawing inspiration from the origins of the Maison he perpetuates its aesthetic ideal by creating new vintages that balance the constraints of the year and the uniqueness of Dom Pérignon.
"We must intimately know our vineyards and our wines, we have to pamper them, learn to love them to create assemblages that strive for harmony. The creation of the 2013 vintage reveals the resonance between the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay parcels, between acidity and full body. The precise and elegant bouquet blooms around three nuances: first citrus, then a more vegetal facet and lastly, spices. This precision reveals a simple and evident elegance where the wine, after an ethereal attack, amplifies and blossoms before ceding to an ineffable sensation of clarity." - Vincent Chaperon, Winemaker.
