Not the world's best-selling Port for nothing. The Americans go wild about it for a start, and whilst in most things that's an aberration, in the case of Port, it's a pretty clear indication that this is hot stuff. Lots of sweet, rich, powerful ripe plum and damson fruit flavours with a sweet milk chocolate kick to it and an almost raisiny quality. Absolutely delicious with a smelly bit of stilton.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
David Guimaraens
David Guimaraens is the 6th generation of the founder of Fonseca Guimaraens. At 18, he set out to experience winemaking in Australia, California and Oregon. David formalised his education in Oenology at Roseworthy Agricultural College in South Australia. After graduating and working, he returned to Portugal in 1990 to join the Fonseca winemaking team. He has been instrumental in producing the Fonseca and Taylor Fladgate wines since, now serving as a Director of Taylor Fladgate and Fonseca.
