The Wine The Wine
France
Region:Bordeaux - Graves
The Welsh owners of this near organic estate on the beautiful banks of the Garonne have tried their utmost to produce wines expressing the best of the well-drained, mineral-rich Graves soil. This Rouge is carefully blended from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. It's fruity and smooth with firm tannins and nice oak. Through age it's starting to show the peppery notes of classic Graves, with liquorice, pencil, dried herb and earthiness melding nicely with blackcurrant and red cherry fruit.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Charles Medeville
Charles Medeville proudly represents the 8th generation of winemakers in his family. After studying both law and the wine trade, his curiosity drew him to the art of winemaking. Following several harvests, and with the trust placed in him by longtime acquaintances Nicola and Sean Allison, he assumed responsibility for Château du Seuil in 2021, overseeing its cellars and vines. His winemaking philosophy revolves around honouring his terroir and the traditions of winemaking, while incorporating modern innovations.
"This wine is fruity, well balanced with integrated oak flavours and firm round tannins. Additionally, in recent years it has developed the peppery characteristics of a classic Graves red. The finished wine is aged in oak for up to 18 month prior to bottling. It is pleasing on the palate, fresh and has a complex aftertaste." - Charles Medeville, Winemaker.
