Champagne Gremillet is a small but beautifully formed, family-owned Champagne house. Due to its southern latitude in Troyes, the grapes achieve a greater ripeness which leads to richer fruit. This combines perfectly with classic biscuit flavours mixed with toasty yeast overtones that develop from 18 months of maturation on lees. In the glass, Champagne Gremillet Ambassadeur Brut NV shows fresh floral aromas combined with characteristic sweet brioche overtones, balanced by peach skin and baked biscuit flavours with a crisp citrus finish and a fine mousse. Great for celebrations, but even better when you feel like a spot of lurid self-indulgence. Go on, treat yourself.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Jean-Christophe Gremillet
The Gremillet estate was founded by Jean-Michel Gremillet in 1979 when he inherited a plot of vines from his mother, Lulu. Today, the house possesses over 40 hectares of vineyards and is situated in a small village 45 kilometres from Troyes - the historic capital of Champagne - and 180 kilometres south of Reims. The vines lie on steep, sun-drenched hillsides in Kimmeridgian clay-limestone soils. Pinot Noir is king here, and constitutes around 94% of Gremillet’s plantings, with the remainder dedicated to Chardonnay, ideal for creating a classic, baked-biscuit, rich, fruit-flavoured Champagne.
"Our consistent quality and excellent price-quality ratio are undeniable and we perform brilliantly against major labels at blind tastings." - Jean-Christophe Gremillet, Winemaker.
