Pinotage is a special grape variety in that it is a combination of Pinot Noir and Cinsault, exclusively planted in South Africa, and tastes nothing like either variety individually. For this bottling, we've teamed it up with Shiraz. Each variety was harvested and fermented separately and then brought together in the winery cellar to create a wine packed with fruit character, masses of drinkability and an easy-to-enjoy profile that can be paired with a wide variety of main dishes or a selection of nibbles.

The Pizo series is about expression of varietal character. Tempranillo dominates the Reserva blend and is encouraged to show off its affinity with oak and a bit of age. You'll find signs of evolution where the plum is turning to prune, and the spice from the oak plays an excellent supporting role. But none of this is without Tempranillo's trademark red-fruit freshness thanks to the excellent conditions in which its grown. Enjoy now or keep to let the evolution flow!

This slice of northern of Italy is more famous for cheese, ham and fast cars but is capable of making some seriously good wine. Most is consumed locally and isn't widely available in the UK. I suggest you decant this before serving as it will help tame its beasty side. There's more than enough rich fruit held within and exposure to some air will bring the red cherry and spice out. Sangiovese, the great grape of Chianti, can be very tart without the right food but Conte di Campiano works with or without a meal.

All too often Viognier is just too much. Too intensely aromatic. Too rich. Too alcoholic. But! When you turn it down from 11 and aim for a solid 8 you can really appreciate the flavour profile of this classy grape variety. We don't put anything under our huge 'Black Pig' label unless it really is the cream of the crop, so expect no pulled punches here. This wine bridges the gap between New World fruitiness and Old World elegance. Plenty of stone fruit character with a freshness that belies the warm clime.
