Whereas a full-blooded Amarone is made completely from dried grapes, the L'Ornato is a blend of juice from dried grapes combined with their estate-level Corvinone, Corvina and Cabernet Sauvignon which are fermented more traditionally. The result is a really smooth, huge red with masses of cherry and blackcurrant fruit, complex spicy and herbal notes and possesses the spirit of a top-drawer Amarone, but at a snip of the price.

We recently embarked on a project with Norwich University of the Arts whereby we engaged with a crop of current students to develop a brand and design a label to go alongside it. They then headed into our HQ to present, and we whittled the options down to a select few. 'Rogue Robin' was one that stood out, and we knew that this Malbec would capture the wonderful concept behind the story and design. Winemaker Stephen Huse began his career on Wall Street, but he retrained as a winemaker to follow his true passion. Since then, he has flown across oceans and worked at prestigious estates in Bordeaux, Napa and Chile before settling in Argentina. Rogue Robin is his quintessential Malbec, erupting with blackberry, damson and raspberry fruit, dark chocolate and toasted coconut.

The success of our Pizo range in recent years has been phenomenal and we felt it was about time to celebrate that. From extensively tasting tanks and barrels alongside winemaker Alvaro, we finally landed on this, a premium parcel of Garnacha that has both immediate appeal and intriguing complexity. Generous red fruit leads the aromatics with a rounded, silky texture on the palate tempered by a refreshing mineral note. Six months in barrel before bottling is the finishing touch that takes this limited edition special to the next level adding a moreish layer of sweet spice.

During a buying trip to California our Head of Buying, Sophie Lord, discovered the talented Heather Nenow, a winemaker who captures the true essence of Lodi's vineyards. Sophie immediately recognised the potential in Heather's Chardonnay, but the journey didn't end there. They teamed up with California winemaking legend David Akiyoshi - whose philosophy stems directly from Robert Mondavi himself - and, together, they crafted this exceptional Chardonnay from different parcels of Heather's Lodi grapes and special cellar parcels. With rich flavours of ripe peach, banana and butterscotch, with a touch of toasty oak, this wine is perfect for those who embrace life's journey, one glass at a time.

Grüner Veltliner is a speciality of Austria, making some of the country's very greatest wines. Kraft des Landes Grüner Veltliner is made from a blend of vineyard sites on limestone and loess soils within Niederösterreich in order to attain the very best varietal character. It has both luxuriousness and freshness, with a zing of lemon, lime and ripe, rich stone fruit. There is a bit of weight to the palate along with this grape's signature spice, but then the freshness comes right back around to brighten up the finish. It is truly moreish.

This really is a jewel of a find from the up-and-coming Portuguese wine scene. The coastal vineyards of Portugal, particularly here just northwest of Lisbon, are capable of producing excellently fresh and saline whites, not dissimilar to now-famous whites of Galicia in the north, but much more wine for the money.
