Yamazaki Distillery is Japan's first and oldest malt whisky distillery and was founded by Shinjiro Torri in 1923. Inspired by traditional Scotch whisky he sought to craft a Japanese version of this great spirit that captured the climate and terrain of his native country, whilst drawing on Scottish know-how. He settled on a location famed for its pure water nestled on the periphery of Kyoto and today the distillery has gained international acclaim for its exceptional handcrafted malt whiskies.
