Suntory's Hakashu Distillery was built half a century after the Yamazaki Distillery, founded by Shinjiro Torri, a godfather of Japanese whisky, when in 1973 his son, Keizo Saji, wished to continue his father's quest to push the boundaries of what Japanese whisky could be. Keizo's search for the next location led him to Hakashu and it is here that he built a distillery deep in the forests of Mt. Kaikomagatake in the Japanese Alps. On tasting this bottling we think you'll understand why.
