Born into a family of distillers, who had been crafting agave spirits since the early 1800s, it seems logical that Don Felipe Camarena's destiny was to become a world-class tequila producer. Tapatio is produced at the La Altena Distillery which was founded by Don Felipe in 1937 in the highlands of Los Altos, close to the town of Arandas and is still under the stewardship of the family today, where Carlos makes tequila using the same traditional methods as his grandfather did all those year ago.
