Here, winemaker Eric Lanxade expertly balances this blend of perfumed Gros Manseng with racy Colombard and everyone's favourite: zippy Sauvignon Blanc. There is plenty of fruit interest here, with lemon barley, apricot and quince flavours to create a mouth-watering and highly alluring tipple. In fact, it's fresher than a dip in the English Channel in January!

One morning, as a local Skipper was gliding along the coastline of Australia, he came across a cove. A tranquil, peaceful, hidden gem of the coastline. He was in awe of what he had found. Just like our local Skipper, as we were scouring the latest Australian vintage, we came across this small parcel of Sauvignon Blanc. Our own hidden gem! Bright and lively in the glass, a wonderful balance of herbaceous passionfruit, tropical fruit and a zesty finish makes this a delicious tipple for all occasions.

This Malbec should not be confused with grippier, more tannic offerings from vineyards located in cooler regions, and those that experience more northerly climates. Crafted from grapes grown in southerly vineyards that bask in glorious sunshine creates a wine that has a wonderfully cheery character and is bursting with ripe dark fruits. A great match for juicy cuts of steak or homemade burgers.

This is one of Italy’s sacred white varietals, indigenous to Campania, which has unusual notes of orange blossom and herbs. This example has a wonderful structure, is light enough to cover a diversity of foods but white fish and prawns are perfect. An exciting alternative to Pinot Grigio.

There are many things to say about the wonderful charms of Barbera. From its native home in Piemonte there are a plethora of beautifully-made wines that shriek berry juiciness, and possess great balance too. And this version, from Swartland, has similarly direct appeal. It offers a lovely acidity and freshness that skewers all the way through its bright, intense cherry core. It is also an extremely versatile wine when it comes to food pairing. The concentrated sweet fruit makes it an ideal accompaniment to fragrant spiced dishes like chicken marinated in ras el hanout, and the light tannins and natural acidity will sit beautifully against an earthy mushroom risotto.
