Old vines are celebrated because the older a vine gets, the fewer grapes it produces. Lower yields ensure better quality, more potent fruit - and the result is richly concentrated, sought after wines! The old vines that were selected for the Wild Dog are roughly 40 years old, and also benefit from the terra rossa soils that are key in imparting Barossa's famous character. There's also a subtle, well integrated element of oak from barrel ageing to give this wine an added edge of spicy complexity on the finish.
