Oxen is the dish of the day here, all reared at a local farm in Munich, and cooked on the famous Spaten grill. In only a couple of hours you'll get a pretty comprehensive Bavarian experience!

The Lowenbrau tent at Oktoberfest in Munich is a very popular place to spend your beery evenings. It has probably the most international crowd at the festival, perhaps because of its worldwide reputation. But that's also a good barometer for just how far afield people flock from just for the specially brewed Otoberfest beers. Pour yourself one of these in a stein, turn up the music, stand on your picnic table in your back garden, close your eyes and start dancing and you may as well be in the tent itself!

Hofbrau Oktoberfest

Despite its incredible reputation, Hofbrau is actually one of the newest breweries to be officially represented at Munich's Oktoberfest beer festival. Mind you, their first inclusion was still as far back as the 50s so there have been a few generations to have worked their way through a few steins to the brass band music, spreading the word that Hofbrau makes great beer! Nothing better either, than their Oktoberfest release. Slightly richer and bigger than their regular lager but just as drinkable. Prost!

Paulaner Oktoberfest

If you're feeling the burn of Oktoberfest and you're starting to fade, the Paulaner tent is the place to go. A more relaxed atmosphere here, along with some of the better food you'll find at the fair, should be just enough to recharge. A leisurely stein with some traditional Bavarian grub and you'll be ready to roll again.

Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest

Here you have Hacker's marzen lager brewed exclusively for the world's best beer festival - Oktoberfest. It's the beer that draws millions of tourists to the festival every year and you can see why in this classic refreshing lager with an extra touch of richness. Good food attracts many to the Hacker tent at Oktoberfest, but the quality of the beer keeps them there!

Augustiner Oktoberfest

The story of Augustiner dates back to... wait for it... 1328! This was the year that records show the first beer was brewed by Augustinian monks in their monastery just outside Munich. The brewery is now privately owned but in terms of its output it is simply a continuation of the previous 700 years. One of proud Bavaria's leading breweries this Oktoberfest production has a light nose that shows warm freshly cooked bread with grassy hops. It has a straw colour and the palate is bolder in flavour than the nose might suggest. A cracking bier released as part of the world-famous festival - Oktoberfest.
