  • This is a gem of a wine from one of Burgundy's smaller domaines with a cult following and growing fanbase.
  • From the Les Pressoniers plot of vines which neighbours Roty’s Gevrey-Chambertin vines, basically a de-classified Gevrey!
  • There’s plenty of sweet fruit and well-structured tannins, making this a total winner with pan-fried duck breasts and dauphinoise potatoes.
  • ABV: 14.0%

The Wine

Country of origin:

France

Region:

Burgundy - Bourgogne

A very fine bottle of wine from the Joseph Roty portfolio, a domaine that continues to grow its reputation and build on its existing fanbase. The wines are crafted in a traditional way with a firm focus on ripe fruit and beautifully integrated tannins. This bottling is crafted from grapes grown in the Les Pressoniers plot of vines, which lies right next door to their Gevrey vineyard. It's a wonderful plot that produces grapes far better than their Bourgogne Rouge status. This wine is ripe and fruit-forward with savoury notes, perfectly ripe tannins and a long, succulent finish that welcomely lingers.

The Winemaker

Pierre-Jean Roty
Winemaker:

Pierre-Jean Roty

Domaine Joseph Roty is a very well respected small Burgundian grower who has a very strong following, but still flies a little under the radar. The wines are very reliable and deliver at all levels across the range and are all made with a traditional approach with well-balanced oak and always a focus on open, pure fruit.

"A wine that can be enjoyed in its youth thanks to the lovely, open red fruit that this plot of vines delivers. It will also reward short to mid-term cellaring as that ripe fruit evolves and takes on a more savoury-focussed theme." - Pierre-Jean Roty, Winemaker.
